The best tools for planning a family holiday.

behind every epic trip, is some good planning. Use our page to help you find the best tools to maximise your trip potential.

Our planning follows these logical steps – every time. This way, you get the best trip, for the best price.

Chose your your holiday type.

From North Pole to South Pole, there’s a million and one choices. Are you looking for sun, sea, snow, city?

Let’s find your travel.

Flights are often the go-to method of transport, but bear in mind the trains too. Especially if you live in the south of the UK or your destination in within Europe.

If you’re flying, start with research flights first, as they are normally the most restrictive element of the plan. From route availability perspective (sometimes only seasonal), cost, time of the week/day.

Where you’re staying.

Before you finalise flights, have a quick check to make sure accommodation does exist! Sometimes the flights are cheap, but accommodation is ££££!

Activities when you’re there.

We failed in Paris – booked an amazing trip and didn’t get organised and missed La Louvre. Gutted! For your essential trips, book in advance, or set reminders for when the tickets are available.

Where you’re eating

Absolutely essential! Nothing worse than paying a lot of money for rubbish food, when you pay less, but eat like a local and get something amazing.

Boring but vital bits of the planning.

OK, so you’ve got everything sorted……but what about hotel parking, transfers insurance? Absolutely! What about packing enough pants!!!

Flights are able to get people long distances in the most efficient time. Be sure to check the destination airport and where you intend to go – they may not be as close as you would like.
Trains in Europe are great. Less than the cost of the UK, with great reliability and often more comfort than their UK equivalents.

Step 1: Chose your holiday type.

As social media highlights all of the amazing places, be sure to narrow down the sort of holiday you want. Have you seen a ski holiday and thought: wow! Have you seen a city trip that has inspired you? Also consider the time of the year and the time you have. For example: if you have a weekend to spare in the winter you can’t travel to Australia for a beach holiday. Maybe a long weekend in York instead? Once you have decided the type you narrow your search, reducing wasted effort.

We cover lots of holiday types on to our site, with the aim to help you find the perfect fit.

Particularly noteworthy is the rise of modular designs akin to the townhouse model in real estate, representing 1 in 5 WordPress projects. These designs optimize space and resources by emphasizing vertical layouts and minimizing the need for excessive elements, thereby reducing overall project costs and enhancing website performance.

Train travel is an relaxing way to travel, with more space and ability to move around freely – great for restless children, that need to stretch their legs.

Step 2: Chose your transport type.

There are literally many ways to get from your starting point, to your destination. Flying is often the quickest way to get to there. With over 5000 flights leaving the UK every day, the choice is overwhelming.

Here are three takeaways:

  • Get a notepad: Writing down what you find, will help you look back at your best options. Be sure to record the day, departure time and location, arrival time ad airport, plus cost!
  • Don’t assume flights are always the answer: We don’t live in London, but love to travel by train. Our geographic location doesn’t put us off considering Eurostar, or channel crossings.
  • Use the ‘UK’, Country as a destination, or even ‘Everywhere’ in your search: This is why we LOVE Skyscanner. This search functionality, allows users to be less specific and discover options, before homing in on a decision.

We love travel, but less keen on the cost. We’ve collected points using our normal shopping and every day spends, to acquire points. Then, used them for all sorts of flights and sometimes even business class. Click here to find out how we do it.

Step 3: Where you’re staying

This is an pivotal part of any trip. Money can be saved from accommodation on any trip. However, it’s not about spending the least amount of money. It’s about value.

While this is step 3, it’s worth having a quick check before booking flights. We’ve found cheap flights before, only to find accommodation is £$€!

There is little point saving money camping on the outskirts of the city, only to spend half your trip commuting in. With that in mind, go for value, not cost. The rise of Airbnb and Vrbo give rise to larger accommodation for the same as what you would pay for hotels.

On our site, we cover the variety of accommodation available and provide recommendations based on personal experience, friends and family recommendations (who we trust) but also extreme research – it’s what we do!!
